The trip ends with a relaxing river cruise to Porto. Trains feature vintage 1940s carriages with opening windows for an authentic experience. The hotel offers a pool, restaurant/bar, and all rooms with river views.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Thursday, 19 June (D) - Flights from various UK airports to Porto, then transfer to Régua. Dinner at the hotel. Overland travel options are available from London.
Day 2, Friday, 20 June (B) - Visit Bragança’s historic centre and castle, then enjoy lunch in a local restaurant. Visit the Tua Line museum before returning to Régua.
Day 3, Saturday, 21 June (B, D) - Visit Vila Real and Casa de Mateus, then enjoy a scenic steam train ride through the Douro Valley to Tua. Traditional singing, port wine, and dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 4, Sunday, 22 June (B, L) - Train to Pocinho, followed by a river cruise through the Douro Valley’s stunning landscapes, passing through dams and enjoying a three-course lunch onboard.
Day 5, Monday, 23 June (B, L) - Train to Penafiel, then visit Quinta da Aveleda for a wine tasting and tour. After lunch, visit the charming town of Amarante before returning to Régua by train.
Day 6, Tuesday, 24 June (B, D) - Train to Pocinho, followed by a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site and rock art. Dinner and wine tasting at Quinta da Pacheca.
Day 7, Wednesday, 25 June (B, L) - Train to Pocinho, followed by a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site and rock art. Dinner and wine tasting at Quinta da Pacheca.
Day 8, Thursday, 26 June (B) - Walk to the airport. Option to explore Porto if you have a later flight.
