A tour offering something for everyone! Travel in 1st class from your home station via London St Pancras and Eurostar, followed by Germany's high-speed ICE trains. The journey includes narrow- and standard-gauge railways, trams, a Baltic ferry crossing, and a vintage paddle steamer cruise, along with fascinating cities and beautiful landscapes.
The tour concludes in Hamburg, where you’ll enjoy a full-day train ride back to London. Flights to and from Cologne are also available from Heathrow, Stansted, Manchester, and Edinburgh.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Tuesday, 1 July (D) - Eurostar from London to Brussels, then ICE train to Cologne for a welcome dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2, Wednesday, 2 July (B) - Late morning ICE train to Rostock; check-in for 3 nights. Explore the historic centre and the Baltic Sea views.
Day 3, Thursday, 3 July (B) - Local train to Bad Doberan to ride the Mollibahn narrow-gauge railway.
Day 4, Friday, 4 July (B) - Train journey to Putbus, Isle of Rugen, to ride the “Racing Roland” narrow-gauge railway.
Day 5, Saturday, 5 July (B) - Ferry to Gedser, Denmark, then visit Gedser Remise and the Danish Tramway Museum. Arrive in Copenhagen for a 3-night stay.
Day 6, Sunday, 6 July (B) - Visit Hedehusene for Denmark’s longest narrow-gauge steam railway and museum, then free time in Copenhagen.
Day 7, Monday, 7 July (B) - Guided walking tour of Copenhagen, boat tour of the harbour, then free time.
Day 8, Tuesday, 8 July (B) - Take an intercity train to Odense, visit the Danish National Railway Museum, and then continue to Aarhus for a 2-night stay.
Day 9, Wednesday, 9 July (B) - Coach tour to Silkeborg for a paddle steamer cruise, then ride the scenic Bryup to Vrads preserved railway. Return to Aarhus for dinner.
Day 10, Thursday, 10 July (B) - Free morning in Aarhus, then train to Hamburg for a 2-night stay. Option to fly home from Hamburg.
Day 11, Friday, 11 July (B) - Visit Miniature Wonderland, then explore Hamburg with a transport pass. Ferry trip along the Elbe.
Day 12, Saturday, 12 July (B) - ICE train to Brussels, then Eurostar to London, arriving at 17:47. Use your Interrail pass for return travel.
