A long train journey can feel like a fairy tale, whisking you away from the grey, cold world into magical landscapes and mythical places. We’ll take you to Lapland, the Land of the Midnight Sun, where reindeer roam and Father Christmas is said to reside.
Experience round-the-clock summer skiing and explore northern Baroque cities, built on islands and shimmering in the summer sea.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1, Wednesday, 9 July - Depart St Pancras at 13:01, travelling via Eurostar to Brussels and onwards to Cologne, arriving at 18:15. Overnight in Cologne.
Day 2, Thursday, 10 July - Travel from Cologne to København, arriving in the evening. Option to join via flights from Bristol, Manchester, or Edinburgh.
Day 3, Friday, 11 July - Sightseeing in København, including a guided city tour and boat trip. Optional visit to Elsinore Castle or Odense's National Railway Museum. Welcome dinner.
Day 4, Saturday, 12 July - Train journey to Malmö, crossing the Öresund Link. Tour Göteborg’s tram network and continue to Oslo for two nights.
Day 5, Sunday, 13 July - Free day in Oslo. Recommended a scenic tram ride or a visit to the Krøderbanen railway. Evening at leisure.
Day 6, Monday, 14 July - Travel from Oslo to Trondheim, with a stop at the National Rail Museum in Hamar. Overnight in Trondheim.
Day 7, Tuesday, 15 July - Sightseeing in Trondheim, including the Gothic Cathedral and a tram ride. Free time to explore.
Day 8, Wednesday, 16 July - Travel from Trondheim to Bodø, crossing the Arctic Circle. Overnight in Bodø.
Day 9, Thursday, 17 July - Travel to Narvik, with a free afternoon to explore museums or visit the Riksgränsen ski resort. Overnight in Narvik.
Day 10, Friday, 18 July - Travel from Narvik to Stockholm on an overnight train, departing at noon. Sleep in sleeper cabins.
Day 11, Saturday, 19 July - Arrive in Stockholm early morning. Option to visit the Swedish National Railway Museum or take a steam train ride. Free time to explore Stockholm. Overnight in Stockholm.
Day 12, Sunday, 20 July - Steamship ride across Lake Maleren, visiting Gripsholm Castle and a ride on the narrow-gauge Östra Södermanlands Railway. Return to Stockholm at leisure.
Day 13, Monday, 21 July - Free morning in Stockholm, with optional city tour or museum visits. In the afternoon, travel to Malmö for an overnight stay.
Day 14, Tuesday, 22 July - Explore Malmö or visit Ystad. In the afternoon, travel to Hamburg for an overnight stay and farewell dinner.
Day 15, Wednesday, 23 July - Travel back to the UK via Hamburg, Köln, Brussels, and London St Pancras, arriving at 16:57. Option for extra nights in Hamburg or direct flights to Manchester and Edinburgh.
